Major Forge migration and UI enhancements for Jira Workflow Toolbox Cloud

This release marks a significant milestone in our transition to the Atlassian Forge platform, bringing improved performance and a more modern user interface to your workflow configurations.

Improvements

  • Forge migration for core post functions – we have successfully moved several key post functions to Forge, including Update linked issue or sub-task, Update fields, Transition issue Send email, and Add or remove watchers.

  • Backend harmonization – improved data consistency between our Connect and Forge infrastructures to prepare the final steps of the forge migration.

  • Modernized expression parser – the expression parser now features a more compact design that expands dynamically as you type or test your expressions.

  • Clearer logical validator labels – we've updated the UI to use "Logical expression" instead of "Parser expression" where appropriate, along with helpful new tooltips.

  • Parser field display – fixed a bug where certain fields were not rendering correctly in the parser UI.

  • Logical validator – You can now use the powerful JWT parser expressions directly within validators. This allows for complex, JQL-dependent validations (e.g., checking the status of related issues) that native Jira expressions cannot handle. It includes customizable error messages and a built-in execution time monitor to ensure performance limits are respected.

  • Notes & explanations for workflow rules – We’ve added a new "Notes" section to all workflow functions. The Note field provides a short description visible directly in the Atlassian workflow editor preview, while the Explanation field allows for detailed documentation. This significantly improves transparency and maintainability in complex workflows.

  • Conditional execution for conditions and validators – Admins can now define a central pre-condition for any condition or validator. The rule will only be evaluated if this pre-condition is met, eliminating the need for redundant configurations and "copy-paste chaos."

  • Fixed drag-and-drop in Execute Sequence of Actions – Resolved an issue where reordering actions within the "Execute Sequence of Actions" post function was not being saved correctly.

  • Audit log deep links – Fixed an issue where links in audit log notification emails failed to open the specific log entry.

    • Execute Sequence of Actions summary view – Resolved a bug where sub-functions were sometimes hidden in the summary view of an Execute Sequence of Actions rule.

    Expressions in General mode can now read values from all custom field types, even when they’re not shown in the field injector dropdown. This makes it easier to work with marketplace and uncommon custom fields in your rules.
