Use case

Hiring costs are usually distributed across multiple activities, such as advertisement, agency fees, and equipment cost. A calculated “Total hiring cost” column gives HR and finance teams a clearer view of the real cost of filling each role, supporting hiring budget discussions and department level planning.

Configuration

Explanation of this use case

Every work item represents a candidate position to be hired. The team uses the following Jira system fields:

  • Job ad spend – A number field to track the cost involved in posting the job for given position

  • Agency fee – A number field to track cost paid to the agency for given position

  • Equipment cost – A number field that records the cost of the equipment for hiring employee for given position

Formula

Total hiring cost = {Job ad spend} + {Agency fee} + {Equipment cost}

Once you are in the Filter results gadget, please click on “Add formula column“ and the make the configuration as follows,
