Intro to sumUp

sumUp for Jira lets you calculate and display totals, averages, or other aggregations of your issue data directly in Jira. It works with system and custom fields, so you can quickly surface key figures in list views, dashboards, reports, boards and Service Management queues - without exporting data elsewhere. Whether you need to track project budgets, monitor story points, or roll up progress across multiple issues, sumUp delivers clear, real-time results right where you work.

Dashboard gadgets

Gadgets are a great way of displaying live data, but they come with limitations. sumUp for Jira adds four brand new dashboard gadgets to the mix, that take the existing gadgets that you love to another level by adding features, such as:

  • Real-time calculation and issue grouping.

  • The flexibility to use JQL queries instead of saved filters in the gadget configuration.

  • Extended custom field support for more fields to display.

Calculation rows

sumUp's processing power can be used in various places within Jira! One major feature of sumUp is the calculation row.

The calculation row can be used in the following places:

Calculation rules

Calculation rules are the entry point for every calculation within sumUp. With sumUp calculation rules, you can automatically total, average, count, or otherwise aggregate values from multiple issues and display the results in Jira fields, dashboard gadgets, or reports. These rules can pull data from standard or custom fields, apply filters, and group results to give you clear, tailored summaries of your issue data.

They define which values should be calculated in which way (sum, average) and how they should be displayed.

Calculated custom fields

Display the data where you need it most - inside an issue! sumUp for Jira ships with two additional, read-only custom fields to be used in all your Jira issue views.

  • Calculated Progress Field (by sumUp)
Visualize progress for issues returned by a JQL query. Choose from 4 different styles for different visualizations based on resolution, status category and time spent.

  • Calculated Field (by sumUp)
Display live calculation results for issues returned by a JQL query based on calculation rules.

  • Each custom field comes with dedicated permission management to control access to its data.
